چکیده
This study aimed to determine levels of cyanide (CN) pollution in the soil and surface water at selected mining sites Mbeya region. A total (n = 124) samples were collected analyzed by spectrophotometry. The soil-based water-based Mwasenga, Ifumbo above permissible limits. was due poor disposal tailing from gold processing plants mismanagement wastewater. On other hand, Cyanide within allowable limit for both Godima, Itewe, Ashishira Nyatula sites. attributed proper management wastewater using artificial tanks, ponds trenches. Also, it observed that there is a mobility site, if tailings are not well managed. concentration about 2 mg/L distance more than 70 m plant situation even worse Ifumbo, where 25 8 respectively, 50

Silica Exposures in Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining in Tanzania and Implications for Tuberculosis Prevention.
Gold miners exposed to crystalline silica are at risk of silicosis, lung cancer, and experience higher incidence rates of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Although the hazards associated with mercury exposure in artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) have been well documented, no published data was available on crystalline silica exposures in this population. Air sampling was conducted in the bre...
متن کاملGeophagy practices and the content of chemical elements in the soil eaten by pregnant women in artisanal and small scale gold mining communities in Tanzania
BACKGROUND Geophagy, a form of pica, is the deliberate consumption of soil and is relatively common across Sub-Saharan Africa. In Tanzania, pregnant women commonly eat soil sticks sold in the market (pemba), soil from walls of houses, termite mounds, and ground soil (kichuguu). The present study examined geophagy practices of pregnant women in a gold mining area of Geita District in northwester...

The use of amalgamation process to recover gold from mined ores by the small-scale gold miners in the Philippines and other developing countries produces and dispose of untreated wastewater to the receiving water bodies. In this study, a field-scale filter bed system was constructed to treat heavy metal metal-laden wastewater collected from small-scale gold mining site in Paracale, Camarines No...
متن کاملIntegrated Assessment of Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining in Ghana—Part 2: Natural Sciences Review
This paper is one of three synthesis documents produced via an integrated assessment (IA) that aims to increase understanding of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) in Ghana. Given the complexities surrounding ASGM, an integrated assessment (IA) framework was utilized to analyze socio-economic, health, and environmental data, and co-develop evidence-based responses with stakeholders. T...
